NVIDIA GRID Days 2016 Recap, Key Takeaways, Technical Deep Dive and Lessons Learned!

Last week in Santa Clara, I was honored by NVIDIA to be one of thirteen professionals to join NVIDIA enterprise graphics teams for the first ever GRID Days event! GRID Days was a fun packed two day event networking with industry professionals, and getting an inside look into the NVIDIA enterprise graphics teams, namely GRID, Quadro, and Tesla. During this event we had exclusive access to the testing and development teams, product management and marketing, executive sponsors, along with management and support teams. Wow! Much of the roadmap and content required that all professionals sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), so [...]

XenServer 6.5 Dynamic Memory and NVIDIA GRID vGPU? Now Fixed in 6.5! Go For It!

Earlier this year I wrote a blog post highlighting an issue that a coworker ran into with XenServer 6.2 Dynamic Memory Control (DMC) and NVIDIA GRID vGPU. You can find that article here: XenServer Dynamic Memory and NVIDIA GRID vGPU, Don’t Do It! Talking with a couple Citrix and NVIDIA folks including Rachel Berry, Jason Southern, and David Cottingham, I have been informed that this was fixed and validated with the XenServer 6.5 release (aka Creedence). Considering XenServer 6.5 has officially released for web today, it's safe to say DMC is now good to go, provided you're running XenServer 6.5! [...]

XenServer 6.2 Dynamic Memory and NVIDIA GRID vGPU, Don’t Do It!

Updated 2015.1.13: XenServer 6.5 (aka Creedence) has been released to web and this has been resolved in this release. Click here to read my updated article for DMC and vGPU on XenServer 6.5 A couple months back I was working with a colleague of mine (Richard Hoffman on LinkedIn or Twitter) on a blue screen issue he identified on a fairly up-to-date XenServer 6.2, XenDesktop, NVIDIA GRID K1/K2 and vGPU deployment. In his case, he was experiencing crashes related to dxgmms1.sys, nvlddmkm.sys, and various other XenServer errors: xenopsd internal error: Device.Ioemu_failed("vgpu exited unexpectedly") xenopsd internal error: Failure("Couldn't lock GPU with device ID [...]

NVIDIA GRID Free Test Drive Hosted on Amazon AWS! GPU Tech Conference (GTC) 2014

After an amazing and full-filled week with many colleagues at NVIDIA's GPU Tech Conference (GTC) 2014, I received an e-mail inviting me to try the new 24 hour limited time GRID trial, hosted on Amazon AWS!  I decided it would be good to capture a quick video of my experience poking around, to eliminate all doubt that NVIDIA GRID can deliver a rich user experience, even from the public cloud.  Check out the video that I recorded below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smjgn38oZMo&feature=youtu.be While this video is a bit long, I wanted to cover a couple of the different applications that NVIDIA has pre-loaded [...]
